Restore speed depends on three things: the size of the restore, your internet connection, and which destination you pull from. Single files and folders typically restore in minutes from the eazyBackup Cloud over a normal business connection. Full-system or multi-terabyte restores can be accelerated two ways — by pulling from the optional local NAS copy at LAN speed, or by requesting an emergency restore drive shipped from our Ottawa facility. During onboarding we set a recovery time objective with you and size the deployment around it.

Yes. The eazyBackup Agent runs with its own credentials and is not accessible from a compromised user session, so an attacker who takes over a workstation or server cannot reach the historical recovery points. Backups are stored as immutable, deduplicated chunks rather than overwritable files. For organizations that need stronger guarantees, pairing Cloud Backup with Canadian e3 Object Storage adds Object Lock (WORM) immutability — recovery points cannot be deleted or modified by anyone, including us, until the lock expires.

No. Customer data and metadata for the primary eazyBackup Cloud destination are stored exclusively in Canadian data centres that we own and operate. We do not replicate to US or international regions, and we do not use third-party hyperscaler infrastructure for primary backup storage. Our Controlled Goods Program registration requires this — sensitive technical data is handled by screened personnel inside Canada only.

Your encryption key is yours. It lives on your device and is never sent to us in plain form, which is what makes your backups private — even from eazyBackup. The trade-off is that if every copy of the key is lost, the data cannot be recovered, and we cannot bypass it for you. We recommend three things: store the key in a password manager that is itself backed up, designate at least one secondary custodian on your team, and keep a printed sealed copy in an offline location. Our team walks you through key custody options during onboarding.

Cloud Backup is metered per TB at a published rate (currently $9.45 / TB / month), with no per-user surcharges, no API request fees, and no charges for restore traffic. Your bill changes only when you add storage or workloads. For organizations growing past 25 TB or running multi-tenant deployments, please contact us — we offer commitment pricing that lowers the per-TB rate at scale, and MSP partners receive wholesale tiers documented on the partner program page.

No long-term contract is required on standard plans. You can start with a 14-day free trial and cancel at any time during or after the trial, with no termination fee. If you cancel, you have 30 days to download your backups before storage is reclaimed, and our team will help you export them. Annual prepayment is available at a discount if you prefer that billing model; MSP partner agreements have their own terms.

Microsoft 365 backup is a separate eazyBackup subscription — Microsoft 365 Backup — purpose-built for cloud-to-cloud protection of Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams. There is no software to install, and it is billed per user ($3.50 / user / month) rather than per TB. It runs on the same Canadian infrastructure and is managed from the same control panel as Cloud Backup, so most customers run both side by side.
